Conventional fire alarm system wiring

WHICH OF THE 2 FIRE ALARM SYSTEM WIRINGS SHOULD YOU USE?

Fire alarm system wiring methods and detectors’ connection are very important in the fire alarm design phase.

In fire alarm design stage you should determine which type of fire alarm system wiring you will use depending on your application and accordingly the fire detectors’ wiring schematic.

We have two main types of fire alarm systems:

  • The conventional fire alarm system
  • The addressable fire alarm system

FIRE ALARM DESIGN GUIDE

Any one wants to design a fire alarm system should follow the next steps to achieve the fire alarm system design professionally:

1- Know Fire alarm system components:

The first step of fire alarm system design is that you should learn and understand the main function of each fire alarm system components and how it works (Theory of operation). By acquiring this information you should have a solid background about all the fire alarm system components and you will be ready for the second step of fire alarm system design.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM COMPONENTS

IIn each fire alarm system, various fire alarm system components should be used based on the fire alarm design that was applied. Generally speaking there are some common fire alarm system components that are widely used in most types of fire alarm systems.

1- Fire alarm control panel

This is the main central unit of the fire detection system. It receives inputs from each smoke detector in the system and processes these signals to send outputs based on an embedded program inside it.

FIRE ALARM INSTALLATION

The first step in the fire alarm installation process is that the fire alarm designer should determine the infrastructure type that will be used in the system.

The infrastructure is installed when we use multiple areas with fire alarm control panel for each area, and the target is to connect all fire alarm control panels to a central control unit for the purpose of monitoring and controlling all fire system components.

FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM AND DEVELOPMENT OF FIRE

Did you ever imagine how the fire is developed and the phases that the fire passes one another to reach its final shape?

When a fire breaks out it passes into phase and it develops between them to reach its final stage.

There are five main phases for the fire to pass one another as follows:

1- Fire beginning phase:

In this phase, the fire is initiated and there will be a small visible smoke that one can see. In this case the fire could be extinguished by small drops of water. It is the early beginning of the fire.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS BASICS

Fire alarm and detection systems are considered the most important systems that were invented by human beings.

In 2017 in the USA an estimate of $10 billion in property damage occurred as a result of fire, an average property loss of more than $20,000.

Could we avoid all these troubles ?

Of course yes, If we used a suitable fire alarm system (well designed) and if people had a good understanding and awareness of fire alarm systems basics.

TYPES OF FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS

At the beginning of any fire detection system project, a good fire alarm system designer should choose and decide which system type he/she will implement.

There are two worldwide known types of fire alarm systems to choose from:

1- Conventional fire alarm system

2- Addressable fire alarm system

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM DESIGN

Fire alarm design is a very important stage that you have to concentrate on it and give it more time so that you can fulfill your desire of securing your property or your real estate from fire any damage.

In each country (even in each state) you will find national fire alarm code that should be followed when you are going to design and install a fire alarm system. This fire alarm code is normally called fire alarm regulations or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), the following are examples of the well known national fire alarm codes:

WIRELESS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

Wireless fire alarm system is another shape of the original standard fire alarm system.

wireless connection

Wireless fire alarms are a good use of wireless radio frequency technology in the fire alarm field. Wireless fire alarm systems are used in certain applications such as:

  • Applications that have a very difficult rout to lay fire alarm cables.
  • Museums and valuable historical places that don’t accept digging or installation works inside.
  • Temporary applications that don’t need infrastructure work.

FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM INSTALLATION COST

When we are going to talk about fire detection system installation cost you have to ask your self first about the application you need to implement?

Actually it is different if the application is:

  • Commercial fire detection system or,
  • Residential fire system,

It also varies in the cost depending on the type of fire detection system which you are going to use:

FIRE PREVENTION IN MEDICAL CENTERS

Fire protection is an important subject in any industry, but in the healthcare field, it’s essential that healthcare and hospitals give home and respite to cases who may not be medically capable to avoid on their own, which means your healthcare complex’s fire prevention approaches are especially important.

FIRE ALARM VS FIREFIGHTING

Fire alarms are formulated to detect smoke and fire in order to warn people of danger. A fire alarm detection system is a type of detection that alerts occupants of the building to an emergency. A fire fighting system is designed to provide protection during fires and includes sprinklers, alarms, dry chemical or wet chemical extinguishers, or other specialized systems. It’s necessary to know which one your home uses. When it comes down to it, there are many differences between these two types of systems.

HISTORICAL FIRE DAMAGES

One of the most horrible and devastating events in history is fire. Fires can lead to drastic changes, such as population patterns and infrastructure for communities that experience them. The power of fire is undeniable. It changes everything, from population patterns to world events and infrastructure – all in an instant. Fires have burned down homes, villages, and cities throughout history. They are a devastating reminder that humans aren’t always able to control their surroundings which cause fires will happen no matter what kind of precautions you take- even with all your efforts at prevention.
